Privacy Policy

Overview
Retropic is a timelapse, stop motion, and daily photo camera app for iOS and Android. This policy covers what permissions we request, what we collect ourselves, and the third-party SDKs included in the app.
The short version: your photos stay on your device. Retropic does not upload, store, or sell your images, and we don't run our own servers that hold your data. The app uses Google Firebase for analytics and crash reporting, and Google AdMob to show ads in the free version, described below.
Data We Access on Your Device
The app requests the following permissions:
Camera
Required to capture photos during a capture session. Camera access is only active while a session is running. No video or images are streamed or uploaded.
Photo Library
Used to save exported videos to your device gallery. We don't read your existing photo library.
Notifications (optional)
Requested when you set a daily reminder for a session. Used only to send local on-device reminders at the time you choose. No data is sent to any server.
Tracking (iOS, optional)
On iOS, the app shows the system App Tracking Transparency prompt. This permission is used by Google AdMob to determine whether it can access the device's advertising identifier (IDFA) for personalized ads. You can decline; the app will still work and continue to show ads.
Third-Party SDKs
Retropic includes the following third-party SDKs. Data collected by each SDK is governed by the corresponding company's privacy policy.
Google Firebase Analytics
Used to understand which app features are used. Firebase Analytics automatically collects events such as app opens, screen views, and in-app purchases, associated with a Firebase-assigned per-install identifier.
Google Firebase Crashlytics
Used to receive crash and stability reports so we can fix issues. Crash reports include device model, OS version, stack traces, and a Firebase install identifier.
Google AdMob
Used to display ads in the free version of the app. AdMob collects ad-related data (impressions, clicks, ad identifiers) and may use the device's advertising identifier (IDFA on iOS, Advertising ID on Android) for ad targeting and measurement if the user has consented.
For detail on what these SDKs collect and how it is used, see Firebase's privacy policy and Google's privacy policy.
To limit ad personalization at the OS level, on iOS go to Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking, and on Android look for “Ads” under Settings → Privacy or Settings → Google. Purchasing Retropic Pro stops the app from requesting or displaying ads.
In-App Purchases
Purchases are processed by Apple (App Store) or Google (Play Store). We do not receive or store your payment card information; it is handled entirely by the platform. The fact that a purchase occurred (along with the product identifier and a receipt) is available to Firebase Analytics as part of normal SDK operation.
Data Retention & Deletion
All timelapse data is stored locally on your device. Uninstalling the app removes it. The app does not have a server-side account for us to delete. If you would like data held by Google's services associated with your device or account to be removed, please refer to Google's and Apple's respective tools, or contact us at support@retropic.app and we'll help where we can.
Children
Retropic is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can delete it.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Changes will be reflected on this page with an updated date. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the new policy.
